Summer is here, and I can tell. My mind is wanting to do absolutely nothing these days. I do, however, want to share with you my recipe for grain free baking powder, for all your baking needs.
Store bought baking powder uses corn starch; which, if not organic, is genetically modified. There is just too much controversy, and not enough science, to suggest that genetically modified foods are safe in the human diet at all. Therefore, I try to eliminate as much as possible from my diet.
Also, compared to homemade grain free baking powder, store bought baking powder most of the time contains aluminum. This hazardous element does not need to be in our foods at all. This is especially true for our bodies and our brains, as some research has pointed to the fact that Alzheimer’s patients have a relatively high build up of aluminum in their brains compared to non-Alzheimer’s patients.
Use this the exact same way you use regular baking powder. From now on I will be recommending this recipe in all my baked good recipes. Enjoy!
Grain Free Baking Powder
1 part aluminum free baking soda
1 part tapioca starch (or other starch)
2 parts cream of tartar
Mix the three ingredients together and store in a PCB free plastic or glass container.
